TerrAfrica presented its second generation investment, the World Bank/GEF Sahel and West Africa Program in Support of the Great Green Wall Initiative

TerrAfrica produced a PSA with UNCCD, Elion and the Government of Nambia shown at the opening plenary of COP 11

The TerrAfrica team participates in the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) Conference of the Parties 11 in Namibia, September 16-27. The NEPAD and World Bank team worked together to deliver a program that emphasizes the strong linkages between the TerrAfrica partnership, the UNCCD agenda, the African Great Green Wall Initiative and the World Bank Drylands report.

One of the highlights is the launch of a publication produced jointly with UNCCD, titled Managing Land Sustainably for Better Livelihoods. The magazine presents 40 innovative case studies from all over the world, illustrating how we can restore the health of degraded lands. These cases have been selected from the more than 250 applications received for the UNCCD Land for Life Award during 2011-2013, and from the World Bank’s TerrAfrica portfolio. Their diversity and range show us that barriers to scaling up sustainable land and water management are not for lack of ideas and initiatives.
